“There is no such thing as a teacher, just a person that creates the right environment for one to learn in”

“Tell someone to do something and they rebel, but, ask, and explain why, and they will exceed your expectations”

Chapter One

Preparing the ground.
Choosing Reiki

In choosing to connect to Reiki, you have made the conscious decision to use the Universal Life Energy, to assist you on your journey through life.  There are many reasons why people are drawn to the discipline of Reiki, not the least of which is that it is seen to be ‘simple’ method of achieving enlightenment.  It is also erroneously promoted as a method that will overcome all life’s problems, and create health wealth and happiness for the individual simply by being attuned to Reiki.  If only!

Can we say here and now that Reiki is simple.  Being simple, however does not mean the same thing as easy.   Reiki is a way of life, and as such great benefits can be had IF you are willing to commit to working with the energy.   And to work with, and learn from the energy takes your time and your own energy.  Reiki is not the easy option.  Reiki will not allow you to hide from life.  It will not make your fears magically disappear, or find you the perfect job, mate, house, car, or anything else you might feel would make your life complete.  It does not promise that you will never feel ill, have an accident, suffer emotional pain or mental confusion.   It does, however, give you a system of  guidelines – i.e. The Reiki Principles to enhance your daily life and thinking, and it does give you a physical connection to the energy from which all things originate, which if used in conjunction with the meditative system of Reiki, will help you to realise who you are and all that you can be.

Just to have the attunement is not enough, to the surprise of many.  The Attunement Process, so highly regarded in many Reiki schools, is seen to be a magical act in itself, instead of the outward ritual that symbolises the inner commitment that takes place when someone decides to step onto the Reiki Path.

The attunement process, in spite of the hype that is attached, is merely the very first baby step in planting your very own ‘Reiki Tree’.  Here, we hope to show you the very basics of Reiki, instil in you the ways in which you can grow and nurture your own Reiki growth, and how you can deepen and strengthen your connection to the Source of Reiki.

You will learn how to attune to Reiki, how to carry out a Reiki meditation, the importance of the Reiki Principles and why they cannot be separated from the mechanics of Reiki hands-on healing.  You will learn how to carry out the Reiki hands-on healing and remote healing techniques, how to attune and initiate other, and how to connect to and attune yourself and others to all other branches of Reiki.  We will talk about whether symbols are necessary, how and when you might want to use symbols from the many different styles of Reiki that are around.

What you won’t learn here, are which particular twists and turns your own Reiki journey will take.  Any spiritual path, like any individual person is unique.  We do not have your answers.  We are finding our own answers, with the help of the system of Reiki.  You, however have all the answers you need, and with  a little help from us and a lot of help from Reiki, you will learn how to look for the answers inside yourself.

The journey of Reiki, exactly like planting a tree requires intent, thought, work, constant nurturing, the right nutrients, and a long term commitment to seeing the whole process through to the fruitbearing stage.  Like anything else, the more work you put into it, the better and stronger your results will be.

You need to prepare your ground thoroughly:

Find out what the system of  Reiki is?

Ask yourself what your expectations are?

Why do you want to learn Reiki?

Are you willing to devote time to the daily practice?

Are you prepared to do what it takes to make Reiki second nature to you?

Are your prepared for the changes that may occur once your practice is second nature?

Find out the various histories of Reiki and see the differences and similarities in the versions that have been published so far.

Would  it make a difference to your perception of the power of Reiki if it were somehow proved that all of these stories were falsified.

Would it make a difference if one of them were found to be true?

What do you hope to gain from Reiki?

What are you prepared to give to achieve your aims?
